How does Just a Baby work?
Just a Baby connects you with other people who want to make a baby. If you’re dreaming of a baby of your own, or if you’re interested in helping others, this easy-to-use app can match you with potential partners, co-parents, surrogates, sperm or egg donors. Once you’ve created your own profile, you can get started finding a match -simply swipe left (for no) or right (if you like someone). If another user also swipes right on your profile, you’ll be matched. This means you can start chatting and begin your journey to making a baby.
What’s the aim of the app?
The aim of Just a Baby is to help people who are ready to make a baby, but need some help – this could be finding a surrogate, sperm donor or a partner.
At Just a Baby, we want to bring alternative paths to parenthood out into the open, and provide more options so more people can start their journey to making a baby.
Who is Just a Baby suitable for?
Just a Baby is for anyone who is thinking about having a baby, and for people who want to help others realise their dreams. Whether you’re gay, straight, married, or single, Just a Baby is an easy way to find that missing piece of the puzzle.
Our community is diverse and our users come from all walks of life – but they all have one thing in common: they all want to make a baby.
Are there any fees?
Just a Baby is free to use – there are no charges to set up a profile, review or chat with other users.
So how do you make money?
Well, we don’t at the moment. We are exploring various options and will keep the community posted. We might introduce new features under a freemium model. But we hope to always retain the main functionality of meeting other people as a free service.
Do I need to seek legal advice?
Yes, we strongly recommend you and your conception partner, and anyone else involved, including spouses, partners or intended parents, seek independent legal advice (relevant to your country) prior to conception.
Where can I download Just a Baby?
Just a Baby is available to download on the App Store for iPhone users and Google Play store for android users.
If I want, could I be matched with someone in a different country?
Yes, you could be matched with people around the globe. You can also change your location in the settings area, so you can search for people in specific areas around the world.
What are the laws surrounding surrogacy, co-parenting, sperm and egg donation?
The laws surrounding donating sperm and eggs, surrogacy, conception and co-parenting, including age limits, differ in every state and country around the globe. It’s very important to seek independent legal advice prior to making any decisions about having a baby or helping someone have a baby.
Do I have to write a profile description?
We’ve found that profiles with open, honest descriptions – profiles that tell your story – generally attract more users. By doing this, you’re also helping others feel more comfortable about opening up and telling their own story, as well as adding value to our online community. If you’re not ready to tell your story, then feel free to say just that – you’ll find you’re not alone. Lots of people are just curious and it’s perfectly fine to say that in your profile.
Is Facebook the only way to sign up?
Yes, it is, but rest assured that no information is posted to your Facebook account. But, if you want to – you can share Just a Baby to Facebook by clicking on the ‘share’ button. You can then invite your friends to join the community.
Do I need to post a photo of myself?
When you set up your profile, your Facebook profile picture will automatically be uploaded as your Just a Baby profile picture. Remember, this is about meeting other people, so it helps to be have a photo of yourself to get the ball rolling and start a conversation.
How do I upload a profile picture?
When you set up your profile, your current Facebook profile picture will be automatically uploaded as your profile picture. To change it, simply click on the ‘profile’ tab and then click on the pencil icon in the top right hand corner of your screen. Find the ‘My photo’ heading and click on the ‘+’ icon to add photos from your phone’s photo gallery or Facebook profile.
How do I go back on a swipe?
You can’t go directly back on a swipe so choose carefully. Remember you can always unmatch someone if you don’t like them and it’s only a match if you both “like” one another. If you swipe through everyone, you can press the ‘RESET Search’ button and start again.
How do I start chatting with someone?
To chat to with another user you firstly need to be ‘matched’ – this means both users need to swipe right on each other’s profile. Once you’re matched, you can start chatting.
How do I delete my profile?
Go to ‘Menu’ , select ‘Delete your account’ under ‘Settings’.
Do I have to put my age on my profile?
Your age is taken automatically from your Facebook profile. We encourage everyone to be open and honest with each other.
